Dr. Surjit Singh Dabas has superannuated from CSIR after completion of 32 years of service. He worked as core team member conducting research on the issues of public understanding of science (PUS). He is also involved in HIV/AIDS awareness programmes in resettlement colonies, drivers’ cluster, school and colleges of Delhi and Haryana. He also participated in Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha (Campaign for taking science to the public) in 1987 and was part of Northern Jatha. He was associated with survey studies carried out in South Africa through collaboration with National Research Foundation (NRF), South Africa and also involved in analysis of data collected by Chinese Research Institute of Science Popularisation (CRISP), China. He was also involved in making documentary films on science and scientists. He was associated with conceptualisation and production of !Eureka” programme for Rajya Sabha TV Channel: a science serial associated with life and work of eminent scientists of the country, and was associated with production of more than 200 episodes. He was also associated with production of 13 episodes of eminent women scientists of the country for Doordarshan. He participated and presented research papers at National and International conferences on science communication and public understanding of science and also organised International conferences on the subjects. He was also associated with Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur, Rewari as Contractual Faculty and at present he is associated with Gurugram University, Gurugram as Visiting Faculty.
